Like much of the rest of the land, the house site was way overgrown.
We cleared the house site, and several acres around it, with a combination of bush-hogging, BullHogging, and horse-logging. Just in clearing the house-site itself, and “worst-first” logging of the bottomland woods surrounding, we were left with about 25,000 board feet of white pine, and a pretty good pile of white oak and other species. Enough to build the 3,000 sq ft of garages. Around the 1st of Dec, 2008, Bob Gill showed up with a portable bandsaw mill to start cutting the timbers for the garages. Bruce, Scott, and I set out the stakes for the house. Building structures was starting to get real.
